The largest short story prize in the world, the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award sponsored by O’Flynn Construction, was presented to Chinese author Yiyun Li at a gala dinner and award ceremony in Cork city tonight, as part of the European Capital of Culture programme.

A Thousand Years of Good Prayers is shortlisted for the richest Short Story prize in the world, The Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award of 50,000 euros approx US$60,000. The Awards ceremony is to be held on Sunday September 25th, 2005 in Cork Ireland.
